Samosa Chutney – Another Red Sauce

This red sauce is a sweet and sour chutney which goes super well with samosas and pakoras. If you are making samosas or are trying out my pakora recipe, then make this sauce a day or two ahead in anticipation.

RED CHUTNEY

2 cups water
2 Tbsp tamarind paste
1 cup sugar
Salt to taste
1/4 tsp ginger powder
1 tsp crushed chillies
1 tsp corn flour

Method

  1. Place water in a pot and add in the sugar. Once melted, add the tamarind paste.
  2. Remove from flame and sieve the mixture.
  3. Return to the stove and add in both the spices.
  4. Once well mixed, make a corn flour slurry and add to the pot. Allow to thicken slightly.

And there you have it – the perfect accompaniment to your fritters and samosas.
