It’s been 9 long months since we were hit by pandemic that took the world by storm into a new era which I guess in time will become the new normal.
We were abruptly disrupted from leading the life we were used to, unable to meet the people we wanted, worse, we were unable to greet other people as practised culturally. Suddenly life as we knew was gone! We were powerless.
We had no choice but to retreat into our homes.
Feeling the need to regain some semblance of control, we focus on something to remove the panic, the frustration and the uncertainty. We instinctively focus on keeping our troop protected in this secure haven we call home!
We spend the time confined to the home on improving the home. It’s claiming control at a subconscious level.
So what did we do? We started numerous projects around the house with family members. We used these activities as family bonding time.
But now that many of us and our family, are back at work or school, we start feeling overwhelmed. So, here is a suggested way to deal with those projects.
Take note of all the projects you have started. Make a list.
Beside the name indicate three things.
- The size of the project, S, M, L or XL. This is usually based on how long the project will take to complete.
- Urgency or priority of getting it done.
- Mention if it is linked to any other project.
At this point, you can create a new list starting from your priorities all the way down to that little task niggling away at you. Just remember in the each category, list the small projects ahead of the bigger ones.
Think about how some of the projects are linked to others. If one project relies on the completion of another, then be very sure you schedule them in that order.
