Dreams are something you create in your mind that can take any shape or form, while goals are based on taking action. With goals, a lot of focus and attention is needed. Dreams, on the other hand, don’t need that kind of focus.

Goal setting is a purposeful and explicit process that starts with identifying a new objective, skill, or project you want to achieve. Then, you make a plan for achieving it, and you work to complete it.*

Be Realistic
Homemaking goals, like any other goals, need to be realistic! No doubt you have a vision, but you need to take into account any and all limitations, hurdles and challenges you will face. Takes step back and evaluate what is standing between you and the goal. We often dream of achieving the impossible. The showcase home but allowing for growing children, work commitments and other activities, we need to reign in our expectations and keep it doable. Nothing should get in the way of your family living their best life.
Eliminating or at least minimising the challenges will be a great start in your journey to realising your goals. Have a list of hurdles and possible solutions. This step will help you keep your goals realistic.
Be Specific
Another element to successful goal setting and accomplishing is to be specific. A clean home is not a specific goal. Having a list of specific, actionable tasks is what will bring you success.
Write ’em down
Writing down your goals, keeps you accountable and helps you stay focused on your ultimate and main goal.
Tell Someone
By all means say we have our pride. Telling someone your goals will give you further incentive to work towards it. It’s common that we basically work harder when we know someone is watching.
Time Specific
Goals should always be time specific. This is especially important for bigger goals that you have broken into smaller tasks. Initially, there will be excitement to move towards your goal but life happens, you get distracted and other matters take priority over these tasks you have listed. With the tasks consistently being postponed (and occasionally forgotten), you will never achieve the said goal. Set a realistic time line and consistently work within that.
Reminders
Keep a reminder of your goals in a spot where you will see it often. It helps you keep your end goal in view
These tips will hopefully be a useful reference for to set realistic goals that can be achieved.
