Let’s face it! Cleaning is a hassle, but it is a necessary hassle. We need to clean. We (sometimes) want to clean.
The good news is Cleaning doesn’t have to be a drag. It can actually be a fun, me-time session.
Here are my Top 5 Tips for a more productive and motivating experience.

Work in a systematic manner
Finish one aspect of all the work before moving on to another. This flow is important to getting chores done faster.
An example would be to wipe down all surfaces before you vacuum. If you scatter dust on the floor after vacuuming, you will have wasted time re-vacuuming the floor.
Work from top to bottom, ceiling to floor. It’s the most efficient way. Likewise, cleaning left to right ensures that you cover the entire room instead of darting from place to place.
Create a caddy
A little basket with everything you need thrown in and ready to go is a really good way to get things done fast.
Have supplies handy
One of the most famous reasons for not cleaning is the lack of supplies. You see that stain in the bathroom but you don’t have your brush nearby so you KIV the chore. Sometimes you get back to it, at other times, you don’t.
Having cleaning supplies available and nearby is such a relief in times of crisis.
Have a set of supplies centrally located. You can have as many locations as you choose.
Usual choices would be in the bathrooms, under the sink, a cabinet dedicated to cleaning supplies (one on each floor maybe?)
Stay stocked
If you constantly need to rush out to buy cleaning supplies, chances are you are not stocking up regularly. Keep an inventory of your cleaning supplies, include this in your shopping list so you can clean as often as needed.
Having a caddy or designated spots for storage are useless if there are no supplies!
Limit belongings
The less you own, the easier it is to clean. It’s not about being a minimalist but rather a practicalist in this regard.
